« The one who changed his brain-»
Posted on | September 5, 2005
So, you didn’t know? Each year, each ‘vigneron’ even if only a little passionate changes his brain.
He passes from the left brain to the right brain. During the whole year, he has in effect abundantly worked one half (I don’t talk here about women, although obviously they too often work hard;)) of the brain, where resides, according to the experts, and simplifying it in the extreme, his « practical» side. Even Bill Gates functions like that, Encarta confirms it ;))
It’s this famous left brain which serves the ‘vigneron’, all year long to do odd jobs, to manage, to count, to fill in papers for the French Administration, to drive his tractor straight whilst digging in his plough, to attempt to make his banker believe that, no, « wine is not dead» (loved, if you read this…) to attempt to understand chemical equations of the soil, to reason. It is the brain of spatialisation, of action, of competition , which without doubt gives him a ripple of pleasure when he thinks that one day, perhaps, Robert Parker will give him 1/2 point more than his neighbour… ;)).
But at the moment of the harvest, it is really the right brain which takes the lead, at least with me.
The right brain, is that of compassion, of time and its rhythms (I will return to that no doubt…)., of creativity, artistic or not, of communication, of imagination, of sense, of smell, of socialisation, of work and the team… That part which would be most active in a woman. From this to say that for me to succeed this vintage, I must let my feminine part express itself, there is only one threshold that I cross briskly and without shame.
True or not true (for those that want to shatter the myth, just read this) in front of my vines, my grapes and my tanks, I no longer feel the same, for me, it is a very special time very special in other senses, when other mechanisms come in to play. One must feel part of the place to reason. Feel, smell, breathe, perceive, predict, touch… all the synonyms of the dictionary from Word are good to use ;))
For me, it’s the month that gives all the sense to being a ‘vigneron’.
