I always enjoy this time of year: to discover just how ingenious people can be with their cards, emails and other seasonal offerings. So, think of my delight when the latest calendar from the Movimento Turismo del Vino Friuli Venezia Giulia (Italy) came flopping through my postbox.
Since the year 2000 they have organised a competition entitled Spirito di Vino and invited young illustrators and cartoonists from around the world to illustrate an idea which captured the ’spirit of wine’. This is thus their sixth year of organising this and the results can be seen in the delightful calendar which they produce highlighting the best images. Many made me laugh and I will continue to enjoy it all year. One of my favourites is posted on the top of this blog: Mar Rosso by Alessio Atrei. I have dived in the Red Sea myself… ‘Was it like that’? I hear you ask…
