Pinot - the parties in the first part

Posted on | January 22, 2006

We’ve posted our latest podcast entitled Pinot Noir Around the World Part I. That’s right… we’ve had to divide our material into two parts because we had so much of it. I think the interviews we have with the winemakers are fascinating - they all have hugely different backgrounds - and yet united in their quest for a great Pinot Noir.

I hope you think we’ve progressed in allowing as many people as possible to play these programmes by installing a Radio Player on the front page of our site - finewinepress.com. So long as you have Flash installed you should be able to play all of the podcasts to date without resorting to launching other players although I know many of you won’t change from the convenience of iTunes. Nor would we want you to! We have so many downloads I know our bandwidth couldn’t cope if you all wanted to use our Player.

To increase our interactivity still further we’ve organised a competition - after listening to both parts of the show just answer six simple questions - simple, but you won’t be able to answer them without listening to the programme - and if it is humanly possible and we’re not breaking the law we’ll ship the winner a bottle of every wine we discuss. That’s worth around $500! And although it’s not part of the rules of the competition (what are the rules I hear you ask?) I really hope that the winner will provide all of us with their opinion of the wines.

In Part I we have interviews with Dick Shea of Shea Wine Cellars in Oregon, Peter Finalyson of Bouchard Finlayson in South Africa, Yanne Charlopin from Burgundy and Matt Dicey from Mt. Difficulty in New Zealand. Part II will be podcast just as soon as possible.

I hope you enjoy it.
