en primeur

Bordeaux 2005. There’s a lot of talk out there as to whether this is the greatest vintage ever…
I travelled to Bordeaux recently to taste the wines from the various Appellations along with Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve. I will be producing several podcasts about our week there which feature a variety of interviews and some ‘fly-on-the-wall’ recordings. You can hear these over on Fine Wine and by subscribing to them on iTunes and other podcatchers.
I have just podcast an interview with Paul Pontallier at Château Margaux and future interviews include Thomas Duroux of Ch. Palmer, Pierre Seillan of Ch. Lassegue, Gerard Perse of Ch. Pavie (translated from the French), Peter Sisseck of Dominio de Pingus (now what’s he doing at the Bordeaux en primeur you might ask?), Bob Adler of Vin du Bob (an interloper from Bergerac) and, of course, Michel Bettane. I also made some interviews in French which will be put up on our sister site bettanedesseauve.com - these include Jean-Luc Thunevin, Philippe Baly of Ch. Coutet, Gerard Perse (Ch. Pavie) Francois Amireau of Ch. de Fargues, consultant Olivier Dauga, and wine-maker Catherine Papon-Nouvel (Clos St-Julien, Ch. Petit Gravet-Ainè, Ch. Gaillard).
Michel Bettane gives his opinion on the vintage and we’ll be highlighting some of our favourite wines.
